No. 39 | Tennessee Tumbler (Limited Edition)
A white porcelain tumbler that has rocks from Tennessee embedded in it. After processing the rocks by breaking them down into small pieces, I wedged the sieved granules into porcelain, and threw and trimmed normally. During the trimming stage, I added black slip lines.
This piece has the latitude and longitude stamped onto the base, which reflect the exact location where the rocks are from.
Due to the variation in the wild material, this piece is not completely smooth on the outside. You can feel the granules, which have been lightly wet sanded, though purposely left raised so you can feel the natural material. The rocks were high in red iron oxide, which gives them a light red tint.
Approximate Volume: 215ml
Hand-thrown and fired to 2200°F in oxidation
Glaze is hand-mixed from raw materials, is non-toxic and food-safe
Made in Brooklyn, NY
